Covenant of Fellowship

Purpose

When a person becomes a Christian by grace through faith in the person and work of Christ, he/she enters into a relationship with God and commits himself/herself fully to the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to His body, the Church. Thus, a person’s relationship to God is not only personal (with God through Christ) but corporate. Membership in a local church is your recognition of a spiritual reality which already exists (1 Corinthians 12:12-13). Membership at Coram Deo Fellowship indicates that you are convinced that God would have you live out that relationship in this community of believers, and the purposes of the CDF Covenant of Fellowship are:

  • To help develop a genuine, local church community which builds itself up in love as each gifted member does its work, as the Holy Spirit builds His Church.
  • To encourage faithfulness and love and unity within this community.
  • To clarify the on-going blessings and responsibilities of each member.
  • To help fulfill God’s calling and purposes for Coram Deo Fellowship.

With the help of the Holy Spirit, the leadership of Coram Deo Fellowship covenants the following:

  1. We commit to lovingly care for you and to seek your spiritual growth.
  2. We commit to equip you as members of Christ’s body and to help you exercise your spiritual gifts for the building up of the community.
  3. We commit to wholeheartedly preach the Scriptures, teach the Scriptures, and counsel from the Scriptures—providing, to the best of our abilities, the “whole counsel of God.”
  4. We commit to praying for you, particularly in times of trial and suffering.
  5. We commit to meeting the biblical qualifications given in Scripture and to uphold those criteria for potential leadership.
  6. We commit to vigilantly guard against false teachers and teachings.
  7. We commit ourselves to fervently seek God’s will for the CDF community, as we study the Scriptures, rely on the Holy Spirit, and exercise discernment to the best of our ability.
  8. We commit to be faithful stewards of the resources God provides for this church and to handle all monies and assets with integrity.
  9. We commit to be examples of godliness and examples of faithfulness in fulfilling the duties of members.

With the help of the Holy Spirit, I, the undersigned, covenant the following:

  1. I am a Christian who has been saved from my sins by the grace of Jesus Christ. I have been baptized to give testimony of my identification with the body of Christ and obedience to the Scriptures.
  2. I have read and understood the Coram Deo Fellowship doctrinal statement and agree not to be divisive to its teaching.
  3. I understand and agree with the importance of submission to church leadership and will be diligent to preserve unity and peace, submitting myself to discipline if the need should ever arise.
  4. I embrace the 4 Elements of Coram Deo Fellowship: truth, worship, transformation, and community and commit myself to pursue these by personal Bible study, prayer, and other related spiritual disciplines.
  5. I commit myself to regular participation in Coram Deo Fellowship’s corporate worship services: to worship in spirit and in truth, to give attention to the truth taught, to faithfully observe the Lord’s Supper, and to give of my financial resources (sacrificially and cheerfully).
  6. I will seek to use my spiritual gifts for the building up of Christ’s body.
  7. Though I will develop and maintain godly and healthy relationships with fellow believers at other churches, I agree not to serve in leadership at another local church.
  8. I understand that it is my responsibility to notify the leadership of Coram Deo Fellowship if at any time I can no longer commit to this covenant, or if I have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding CDF.
