God Breaks His Silence
Luke 1:5-38
After 400 years without any public, prophetic word of comfort to his people, God breaks his silence with two angelic visitations: one to a priest performing his duties in the temple in Jerusalem, one to a betrothed virgin in a small town in the hills of Galilee. To each the angel promises a son – John, the prophet of the Most High and Jesus, the Son of the Most High. In these two parallel accounts, Luke makes it clear that God brings salvation in ways that defies man's expectations and confounds his calculations.
